Who better to tell stories than William Shakespeare...and what better way to experience them than with your Danville Symphony Orchestra! The season finale explores the Bard's influence on stories and music across eras and borders. Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy and Bernstein's West Side Story feature prominently as direct translations of Shakespeare, while works from Efraín Amaya and Giacomo Puccini touch the idea of star-cross'd lovers and tales of woe. Experience the righteous vengeance of a betrayed warrior princess in Smetana’s Šárka (from Má vlast), and hear the incredible artistry of your own DSO musicians as principal flutist Amanda Pond performs the virtuosic Fantasie Brilliante on themes from Bizet's Carmen!
