Community Workshop to Explore Flooding and Flood Resilience in Vermilion County
Residents are invited to attend Living with Water: Flooding in Vermilion County, a free educational workshop designed to help the community better understand flood risks and explore practical solutions for improving resilience.
The workshop will take place on:
Saturday, August 1, 2026
1:00–2:30 PM
Location: Three Kings of Peace Mentoring Center, 302 W. Roselawn Street, Danville, IL 61832
Participants will learn how floodplains function, how GIS mapping is improving flood planning, and how green infrastructure and watershed management can reduce future flood impacts.
The presentation will include interactive maps—including a Carver Park case study—and a discussion of strategies to help protect neighborhoods, infrastructure, and taxpayers.
The event is hosted by the Brooks Sustainability Foundation in partnership with the NAACP Danville Branch #3009.
Admission is free and open to the public.
